UFC Fight Night: Hall vs Strickland Results

The two traded jabs for much of the fourth round, but when Hall got too comfortable, Strickland landed with a right hand that hurt him, and he closed the round with a series of hard shots in the final minute before a late surge from Hall in the final seconds.

Hall made a run in the fifth frame, trying to get the finish he needed, and he was scoring well but not hurting Strickland, who stayed perilously close to danger while standing in the pocket with the dangerous Hall. But after that initial rush, Strickland was able to slow Hall down and finish strong, ending the 25-minute battle as strong as he started it.

After some solid exchanges to start the bout, Buys (6-2) took de Paula (5-4) to the mat in the opening minute, yet as de Paula rose to her feet, a flush kick by Buys sent the Brazilian back to the canvas. Buys thought it was a walk-off KO, but de Paula got back to her feet, only to be taken down and finished by a series of ground strikes. The official time of referee Mark Smith’s stoppage was 1:00 of round one.

Stolze opened the fight with a spinning kick that was answered by punches to the head by Gooden, who then took his foe to the mat. Stolze got up quickly and the fighters resumed striking, but then Gooden closed the show with a right hand that landed flush and put Stolze on the deck. A follow-up shot ended matters, with referee Herb Dean stopping the fight at 1:08 of the opening round.

Atlanta’s Gooden, who replaced Mounir Lazzez, improves to 18-6. Stolze falls to 12-5.

Baghdasaryan roared out of his corner throwing punches and kicks with bad intentions, immediately getting Anglin’s attention. Anglin settled in and got off some knees at close range, and a takedown midway through the round added to his point total. Baghdasaryan rose quickly and went back to work, pressuring his foe and landing two straight lefts that briefly had Anglin in trouble.

Baghdasaryan landed three consecutive 1-2s in the second minute of round two, but it was the follow-up head kick that dropped Anglin, effectively ending the bout that was halted by referee Mark Smith at 1:50 of the second stanza.

Witt used a hard kick to the body to set up a smooth takedown in the second minute, and he controlled matters there until 90 seconds remained. Upon getting upright, Barberena tagged Witt with a right hand and he added some more strikes in a subsequent exchange before a late takedown by Witt.

Barberena got off to a good start in round two, but two minutes in, a right hand by Witt knocked him into the fence and the Kansas City native followed with a takedown. Once standing, another right hand drilled Barberena, and Witt followed up with a guillotine choke attempt. Barberena got free and returned to his feet but was grounded once more before the horn sounded.

Garcia looked winded in round two, yet after a strong start by Gruetzemacher, Garcia scored a takedown in the second minute to halt his momentum, but only briefly, as the veteran got back to his head and continued landing shots on his bloodied foe.

In the third, Garcia was running on fumes, and while he got two takedowns and had some ground control, Gruetzemacher was in charge of the action on the feet and that allowed him to get a hard-fought win.

Frey rocked Yoder early in round two, and after clearing her head, Yoder fired back, but Frey kept the pressure on as she dodged her opponent’s takedown attempts. Late in the round, though, Yoder began tagging Frey with regularity, marking up the Texan’s face.

The third was close, but Frey’s calf kicks and some more solid punches upstairs were enough to secure the round and the fight.

There was no feeling out process between the flyweights, with Adashev digging in with his kicks to Benoit’s leg while the Texan got in some hard punches upstairs. Three minutes in, though, the leg kicks had Benoit limping and switching his stance, yet Benoit kept throwing hard, and he was able to put Adashev on the seat of his shorts with one of his power shots.

The gutsy Benoit kept marching forward in round two, and though he got some shots in, Adashev was landing too, picking at his opponent from long range as he made Benoit chase him. With a minute left, Adashev locked Benoit up against the fence briefly, then went back to work from distance.

Rowe kept his momentum going into the second, getting his strikes off with regularity while rocking Cosce a few times. But when referee Chris Tognoni appeared close to stopping the bout, Cosce fired back with some haymakers that kept him in the fight until he was able to clinch with Rowe and clear his head. Once Rowe got free, he landed a series of thudding knees, and when he opened up with his hands, he dropped Cosce and forced a stoppage from Tognoni at 4:21 of the second round.

With the win, Rowe, who missed weight for the bout at 173.5 pounds, moves to 8-3. Cosce falls to 7-1.
